Applications:
-
When "transplanting" a newer (2007–up) OEM radio into an older Legacy/Outback, this adapter provides easy access to the Aux input leads going into the new radio. Simply plug this adapter harness in between your car's "i85" harness and the new OEM radio, and add an appropriate cable to plug into your MP3 player, satellite radio receiver, or any other Aux source.

2005–2006 Legacy/Outback OEM radios have an unused Phone input, intended for a cell phone car kit (or OnStar-type device). "Phone" mode will mute any audio that the radio was playing (AM/FM/CD), or "wake up" the radio if it had been powered off, and route the phone's sound to the front speakers. This adapter provides easy access to the Phone input leads going into the radio. Enables you to connect a cell phone car kit (e.g., Parrot). Car kit not included, and you'll need to do some additional wiring. Please e-mail me for more information.

2005–2006 Legacy/Outback and some Forester OEM radios have a 5th-channel amplified subwoofer output, unused in many models. This adapter provides easy access to the subwoofer output leads coming from the radio. Enables you to connect a subwoofer speaker (not included). Please e-mail me for more information.
Connects to the factory 8-pin "i85" audio harness. The harness includes pins for:
- Audio Steering Wheel Controls (SWCs)
- Subwoofer in rear cargo (some Outbacks and Foresters only)
- Aux audio input (2007–up only)
- Phone car kit audio input (2005–2006 radios only)
- "Night Illumination Dimness Cancellation" signal (restores full brightness on display)
Note: All functions not on all models.
By default, I'll connect the pins for SWCs and NIDC through between the car and the radio. Let me know if you would like different (or no) pins bridged. Send me an e-mail more information.
